Random thoughts

It is a fine winter day, crisp with blue skies with a dash of fine clouds. Just the way I like it. My office is quiet these days and I can even hear the distant whirl of a helicopter in the sky. Having a quiet office with no one else around is a bonus when you have to focus. But my most urgent work is done and dusted and I am back to a blank canvas, a beginning of a new milestone. As usual, I’m feeling a little lost and stupid and not quite knowing where to start. I feel somewhat restless although I have no particular recent to be. Lack of focus makes me feel that way. But I guess with time, I will get into it and make progress.
Yoga session yesterday was great. Once again, it is one thing I keep looking forward to each week. I marvel at the man that is my yoga teacher. Apparently, he lives miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city in the bush, in a caravan. Yes in a caravan, with no electricity and lives by candle light. He chooses this simplistic life over the materialistic lives we tend to create these days. I perceive him as a true yogi and the only one I am fortunate enough to know so far. He was apparently a part of a rock band once, before he decided to go the opposite direction. Such people truly inspire me and I respect them for they are brave to go against the natural stream we all seem to flow with. Such peace they must experience with their way of thinking, minimal worldly possessions and few attachments.
It is nearly the end of the week. Sometimes, the end of the week brings me more anxiety than the beginning of the week. It is because of the irregular nature of the weekend I think. Usually, unexpected things always happen and I am caught off guard. I like to think that I’m not a control freak. Actually I’m not. But I have this condition where I always want to know ‘what is going to happen’....otherwise when things come up, I get excited and agitated. This is life isn’t it? We have to be flexible and adaptable. It is a concept that I’m still struggling with. Life cannot always be planned...especially when people and circumstances are unpredictable. Maybe that is the beauty of life....it’s time I came to terms with it.

  1. Wow.. lots of thoughts and quite random alright. =D Firstly must say your new theme looks splendid Spring! These hues are very soothing to the eyes.

Secondly good luck with your new project! And like you resolved, it is best not to worry about tomorrow, and face today's challenges moment by moment.

If something distracts you start something else and later get back to the previous. In Jack Foster's 'How to get Ideas' book, he says that ideas are packed within closed spaces, so we just gotta pluck them off, or if we miss them someone else will do so. As long as we believe that ideas exist around us, getting ideas is a cake walk. ^__^

About your yoga sensei.. wow.. I wish I could live like that. His lifestyle sounds like a total bliss. He truly practices what he preaches, ne?

  3. You're welcome sis. ^__^

hehe.. no dear. I've only read Foster's book just about twice and that too was some 4+ years ago. You know my memory ne, I can never remember everything I read.. cuz my memory is programmed to remember only trivia and not essentials. lol

See.. it's like, this book had cartoon figures from the front cover to the last page in every chapter, so I digested the concepts with no sweat. =D I actually bought that book cuz of those cartoons! The language too was simple, quite interesting and comical.

The author's got experience from a blue chip Ad agency in US, so that explains why the book's so awesome. And it's written for everyone, from housewives to office folks, school kids to teachers and even parents. It also teaches how to see life in a bright way and to have exciting adventures daily on your way to work and back home!

PS: the book even teaches some tips to make someone who had never drawn something right in their life, to draw something exactly the way it is! So yep, do check it too. You won't regret. ^__^

PPS: Aww.. you like a life in a jungle too? Are you a fan of jungle book by any chance? =D

  4. Harumi! actually even I read the book including the cartoons. I found it delightful too but since it was a library book I had only limited time to read. I must say, I don't remember the part about drawing...maybe I skipped that part. Should take it out again. Yeah I love the 'idea' of life in a jungle..if there are no scary animals of course. Probably living in a tree house would be awesome!

  5. Really? oh ya, seems like you missed it. Can't recall where exactly it was but it describes step by step on how to sketch a chair exactly as it is.. and apply that theory to everything else. I should look for that book and see which chapter it was. =D

Ya, life in a tree house sounds cool and so much fun.. but I wonder if it's feasible for us, grown ups. lol
